Fears Telstra to cut a sweetheart deal

Optus director of government and corporate affairs Maha Krishnapillai says he fears the government may pull back from its threat so as not to upset Telstra’s shareholders in an election year.

“Unfortunately the ETS has been Telstra’s get out of jail card,” Mr Krishnapillai told ABC Television tonight.

“We have a real fear that Telstra will simply cut a sweetheart deal with the government over the next two months.”
