Reports are emerging that Australia’s third largest ISP ‘iiNet’ is seeking to capitalise on it’s strong position in the Australian Telecommunications market by expanding it’s business enterprise to encompass the East Coast.
After taking over prominent Western Australian Internet Service Providers Westnet and Up’n Away, along with making a considerable revenue profit in the second half of 2009, iiNet’s David Buckingham stated that there was plenty of room in the budget for more acquisitions.
Although iiNet are leaning toward DSL orientated opportunities, I wouldn’t be at all surprised if they targeted Mobile Broadband and Wireless ventures. On top of general Internet services, iiNet have also penciled in IPTV to their credible list of products.
With a launch of iiNet’s Internet TV services scheduled in for March this year, iiNet’s CEO Michael Malone has also indicated that they’re aiming to obtain an IPTV distributor and work on a bureau model that other ISPs can use as well.
