A recent Australian Broadband survey conducted by a broadband enthusiasts community has revealed that out of 23,683 legitimately processed respondents, a massive 92.6% opposed the Government’s mandatory Internet content filtering plans, while 91.6% say they either have the know how to navigate around the ISP filter, or could do if they had the instructions.
Participants who took part in the survey are believed to be made up of informed consumers which essentially do not represent the wider Australian community. That being said, this group are still likely to inform and advise their peers on the finer details of the survey and we all know how much ‘word of mouth’ can spread.
Aside from the unparalleled support against the Internet filter, other interesting statistics are suggesting that broadband value has actually improved from last year, and wireless broadband still has a long way to go in order to compete against fixed line broadband.
