iiNet and Optus have recently released new or updated Naked DSL Broadband Plans as competition within the Telecommunication industry reaches an all time high.
Although broadband pricing levels appear to have remained relatively the same, it’s data allowance limits in both peak and off peak periods that are providing good ‘value for money’ options for the broadband consumer.
Many industry analysts are under the opinion that AAPT started the latest round of broadband Internet data allowance wars with their APPT Unlimited Anytime Broadband plans, and although not classed as a Naked product, the plans still incorporate a home phone telephone line and $50 worth of phone calls.
The real Naked DSL Players are iiNet - who are generally responsible for the Naked Broadband movment and have recently updated their data limits. They have an entry level Naked DSL plan for $49.95 which is unbundled and consists of VOIP with FREE local and National calls and 5GB peak + 5GB off peak data limits. There’s also Optus – which released an entirely new range of Naked DSL Broadband plans starting at $49.99 with a mobile phone bundle (120GB – 50GB peak + 70GB offpeak data), or $59.99 unbundled (120GB – 50GB peak + 70GB offpeak data).
This only leaves the absence of Telstra BigPond Naked DSL offerings, as the only major league Broadband player without respective Naked DSL products. In saying that, both Optus and Telstra BigPond do offer Naked Cable Broadband plans which essentially means that you can subscribe to high speed broadband plans without the otherwise mandatory requirement of a home phone PSTN copper line.
