This is why Australia can’t ever get ahead in the world as a leading country. Putting it simply, when a grand idea comes along that could benefit Australia’s future prosperity immensely, even if the average Australian doesn’t fully understand the benefits, the opposition party has to come along and can it!
Sure it may not be a perfect plan and it could cost a few dollars, but imagine if projects like the ‘Snowy Hydro Scheme’ and ‘Sydney Harbour Bridge’ were scrapped at the time…. We’d all be still living in the dark ages, just what the Liberal Party intended.
As is the case with former opposition leader (no wonder) ‘Malcolm Turnbull’ who recently stated that Labor’s National Broadband Network is a complete waste of money – quote “a gigantic torching of taxpayers’ money”. Using a short sighted and shorter now example when holding up an iPhone, Mr Turnbull stated “This requires a very different sort of architecture”. C’mon Malcolm, do you really want us all think that Wireless Broadband would solve all our problems and be a suitable alternative for the NBN and that there’s absolutely no need for a super high speed national fibre broadband network? Really!
Funny that, coming from an opposition spokesperson who’s party doesn’t even have a policy on Broadband. Mr Turnbull also went on to add that he believes ‘free enterprise’ would take care of the market. Been there, done that. Those who know, know it didn’t work before and know it won’t work again. What is this guy thinking? Sheeezus, is it just purely about ‘votes’ regardless of the consequences? What ever happened to bipartisan support and doing what’s right for the country?
Seriously people, it doesn’t matter if you’re a Labor, Liberal, Green, National or Donkey voter…. It’s Australia’s future that we need to put at the top of the list here. Now all we have to do come August 21st is to figure out how to vote for it.

Cliff, the argument you put forward for Turnbull is simply someone who saw a buck in a business, and then without any loyalty exited when the $$ were right..prima facie. And whilst I’m not a lab or lib voter, I actually much prefer Turnbull to Abbott.
The guy with the vision was Rudd (like him or not). With the three principals in this now Guillard, Abbott and Brown there is no doubt NBN has fallen into a political maelstrom. Which is a bad scenario made worse with an entrenched Australian media, who without doubt would (right now) see NBN as as their biggest threat.
I am neither a Liberal backer or a fan of Malcom Turnbull but in the interest of balance I had to reply to this uninformed rant. Malcom Turnbull was the owner of OzEmail and sold it in 1999 for $60m, and listed in Australias top 200 richest people. I think he would know a bit more than you about internet capabilities. Try and do some more research before you start your spleen venting.
